about

This is an old Scottish tune, probably a sailors' song or such as a “barcarolle”. Several versions of lyrics have been added to it : my choice went to Sir Harold Boulton's version (probably the first one of them) as it describes the escape of Bonnie Prince Charlie toward the isle of Skye after the disaster of Culloden (1746). This theme has inspired me as I played and recorded my bagpipe. As you may know, the TV Series “Outlander” also took this tune for its main theme.
