about

Amazing Grace is of course a worldwide standard… what is probably less known is that melody and lyrics have different origins : the tune itself comes from at least another one named "New Britain" attached to older lyrics by W. Walker in 1847… Lyrics have been written by John Newton and published for the first time in 1779 under the name of "Faith's Review And Expectation"…
Last but not least, one often thinks that the tune is part of ancient Scottish bagpipe repertoire. But it isn't. It has been arranged and adapted for bagpipe only in 1972.
Whatever, here's my own version of this great song.

lyrics

(Part of J. Newton lyrics used in the track)

Amazing grace how sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost but now am found
Was blind but now I see
